History
At 115,000 units, the successor to the legendary Jaguar E-Type is not actually a high-volume model. Nevertheless, the XJ-S series was considered a successful model from Jaguar and was also the fastest (and most expensive) coupé with automatic transmission at the time.
In the 22 years of production, various engines were used in this beautiful automobile. The well-known V12 from Jaguar is certainly one of the most popular and coherent for this car, even if maintenance is naturally somewhat more expensive than with a 6-cylinder engine.
This example was delivered 34 years ago in Winterthur and has never left eastern Switzerland. An interesting documentation documents the serious care history of this extremely beautiful car.
Fresh from service and a technical inspection, this veteran-approved XJ-S 12-cylinder goes to its new owner.
Bodywork and paintwork
The original Burgundy color is in excellent condition and has been regularly maintained and preserved over the years, so it has never had to be repainted. Everything on this car is in stunning new condition.
Interior
The fine leather interior and the real wood panel are just as good as new as the exterior. The owner has paid great attention to the cleanliness of the interior and regularly maintained the fine leather seats with special products. No scratches, no discoloration, everything as good as new.
Engine and mechanics
Start at the first turn, silky smooth running characteristics, an excellently tuned 3-speed automatic transmission and optimum driving characteristics. There are no leaks and all units function perfectly. In 34 years, the engine has not had to be washed once, as the car has never seen rain or any other bad weather.
Chassis
The suspension of the Jaguar XJ-S is considered by Jaguar connoisseurs to be one of the best non-hydraulic suspensions of the time. The 2+2 Coupé is correspondingly comfortable to drive. Even at speeds of over 200 km/h, you feel safe and in good hands in the fast Gran Tourismo.
Driving experience
The XJ-S is a cruiser that pampers both driver and passenger. Goodtimer has already driven several thousand kilometers in an XJ-S and knows how relaxed a long journey can feel. The velvety smooth 12-cylinder engine naturally contributes to the superior driving characteristics.
Recommendation
The XJ-S is one of the last 12-cylinder classics on the market. The classic car world is certain that this Gran Tourismo will have a long and solid future. The many Jaguar enthusiasts and specialist dealers around the world ensure that this exotic car will remain on the market for generations.
For collectors and enthusiasts of a unique example that has been in the same ownership since 1990, has been regularly maintained and driven and has the lowest mileage on the current market, this absolutely original and untouched example is highly recommended as a collector's item.
