Description

The history

The MG A is one of the most beautiful British classics of the 50s and 60s and is an interesting investment. Its design language and rock-solid technology make every MG A a welcome guest and loyal companion.

The original version came onto the market with a 72 hp 1489 cc four-cylinder twin-carburetor engine. The technically slightly improved MGA 1600 variant (1588 cm3, 80 hp, front disc brakes) followed in May 1959, followed by a further development stage MGA 1600 Mk II in March 1961 (1622 cm3, 86 hp).

This example is considered a rarity, as it is an original Swiss first delivery.

Bodywork and paintwork

The bodywork was refreshed and painted in 2021 at a cost of over CHF 10,000.

Interior

The new leather seats are also beautifully finished, as are the carpets, the soft top, a cockpit tarpaulin and the original triple-spoke steering wheel.

Engine and mechanics

Under the hood, the MG A looks like a new car. The entire mechanical system was overhauled at great expense and many parts were revised.

Chassis

The new chrome-spoked wheels are fitted with Michelin XZX tires, the brake system has been overhauled and much more.

Driving experience

The most original of all MG A roadsters shines with its crisp sound and a reliable engine that has been tried and tested over many years. Like every MG A, you are exposed to the airstream and don't notice the 8 hp less than the more powerful model. Only on hills does the “little” 1500 have to breathe a little more than its bigger brothers.

Recommendation

An MG A with which you can drive off and have fun.
