Description

History

With the “affordable dream car for young men”, according to the press at the time, Alfa Romeo achieved a stroke of genius with the Giulia GT Coupé designed by Bertone. Around 224,000 units of the 4-seater sports car were built between 1963 and 1977.

Following an extensive restoration, this example was acquired by Goodtimer, where it is to be put back on the road as an active vehicle.

Bodywork and paintwork

The paintwork is of new car quality, is still very attractive and will be given a fresh sealant when sold. There are slight signs of use, but these hardly detract from the overall appearance.

Interior

The interior is in very good condition. It is not known when it was renewed. There are very few signs of wear on the rear seat shell. The atmosphere is unique, the seats sporty, the interior clean and spacious.

Engine and mechanics

The mechanics were partially revised during the technical inspection in summer 2024, the engine and exhaust values were checked, the cooling system was refilled, the gearbox and clutch were tested and the electrical system was completely overhauled for function. Only the rev counter shows approx. 800 rpm too much due to the conversion of the ignition system.

Chassis

The front and rear axles were measured, adjusted and tested for the next 6 years. The brakes were replaced in 2021 as part of the new veteran's inspection

Driving experience

“Cuore Sportivo” - the Alfa Romeo hallmark is part of the program and is reflected in the Giulia GT. In the early 1970s, this coupé was one of the fastest sports cars on the road. The transfer from Montreux to eastern Switzerland was completed on its own wheels via Furka/Oberalp, which speaks for the reliability of this model.

Recommendation

Goodtimer started restoring cars like this around 10 years ago. Since then, the market value of this car has almost doubled. Today, the GT Coupé is one of the most collectible classics in the CHF 40,000 to CHF 80,000 price range. Depending on condition and restoration quality, there is a solid selection of examples to choose from, and there is something on the market for every taste.
